Special counsel Robert Mueller has been working in the background to conclude his Russia investigation, while Donald Trump does his best to move the public eye away from Russia.
According to a new report by the Washington Post, Muller just added six senior and former members of the Trump administration to his list of people to interview. He believes these individuals were witnesses to events involving Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Former Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer are both on Mueller’s list. Hope Hicks, Trump’s interim communications director, also made the cut.
Mueller believes the six people hold vital information surrounding Trump’s decision to fire James Comey and his delay in relieving disgraced former national security adviser Michael Flynn of his duties. The individuals are also reportedly linked to internal documents Mueller requested from the White House as part of his investigation.
Other names on the list include White House counsel Don McGahn, McGahn’s deputy James Burnham, and White House spokesman Josh Raffel, who works intimately with Jared Kushner.
Mueller has yet to schedule the interviews, but this move draws him closer to giving Americans the conclusion they desire.
